Te mapa
Ise-Ekiti lies in the south of Ekiti State in southwestern Nigeria, in a landscape of hills, granite outcrops and farmland typical of the region. From above, the town is a cluster of streets and compounds around its centre, with roads leading out toward neighbouring towns and toward Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. Green, open land surrounds the built-up area on every side.
It is one of the older Yoruba towns of Ekiti, with a traditional ruler and a close-knit community whose members keep strong ties with home wherever they live. Ise is the headquarters of the Ise/Orun Local Government Area, and farming, trade and education all play important roles in local life.
An Ise-Ekiti map poster shows a town whose pattern has grown with the land, following ridges and valleys rather than a planned grid. The central quarters are dense and irregular, while the outer streets thin out into farmland and bush, giving the design a soft, natural outline.
The oldest part of the town forms a dense cluster of short streets and compounds, the focal point from which the rest of the map spreads outward.
Main roads leave Ise-Ekiti toward other Ekiti communities and the state capital, drawing long lines that tie the town to the surrounding region.
The land around the town rises and falls in hills and rocky outcrops, so streets bend and follow the terrain instead of running straight.
