Jinan is known as the City of Springs, and its old centre is built around water that rises from underground. Baotu Spring, Black Tiger Spring and dozens of others feed Daming Lake and the moat that encircles the former walled city. A large lake within the northern part of the old city, fed by springs and edged by pavilions and gardens. It forms the biggest open shape in the centre of the map.
