Jinja Map Poster & Print

Jinja sits on the northern shore of Lake Victoria, at the point where the White Nile begins its journey north. The map shows a clear setting: the lake to the south, the river channel to the west, and the town on the high ground between them. The central streets follow a regular colonial grid, with wide avenues and larger plots toward the waterfront.

The source of the Nile has made Jinja known worldwide, and it remains the main attraction for visitors. Just downstream, the river was dammed in the 1950s at Owen Falls, now the Nalubaale power station, and further hydroelectric projects followed. These works turned Jinja into an early industrial centre for Uganda.

A Jinja map poster captures the moment where lake becomes river. The shoreline, the dam and the bridge crossings form strong shapes around the grid, and the water on two sides makes the town stand out clearly in black and white.

Lakeshore grid

The town centre is laid out in straight streets and wide avenues, with open green areas running down toward the lake.

He mapa ʻe maʻuhiga

Jinja is remembered by travellers who rafted the Nile and by Ugandans who grew up beside the lake. A map of the town shows the exact spot where the river starts, a rare geographical story to hang on a wall.

Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the date of a trip or a family name. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, as instant HD files or a printed poster.
