Te mapa
Jizzax lies where the open steppe of central Uzbekistan meets the first folds of the mountains, and its map carries both moods. Broad Soviet-era avenues and large residential blocks give the centre a spacious, orderly look, while older neighbourhoods with smaller, irregular plots fill the areas nearer the river. Irrigated fields press in from the edges, their rectangles continuing the geometry of the streets.
The Sanzar River runs through the city, and the main railway between Tashkent and Samarkand passes along its edge. Not far to the south, the road and rail squeeze through a narrow gorge long known as Tamerlane's Gate, a historic passage between the Nuratau and Turkestan ranges. That narrow corridor explains much of why a city grew up here.
A Jizzax map poster shows a place defined by movement: the river from the mountains, the railway across the steppe, and the old route through the gorge. Drawn in fine lines, the wide avenues and long field boundaries create a calm, open pattern with a sense of scale that suits a large print.
The river flows down from the mountains and through the city, its course marked by a line of greenery and irrigation channels branching into the surrounding farmland.
A major rail line that skirts the city and sets its orientation, drawing a long, steady stroke across the otherwise open plain.
The central districts are laid out with broad streets and large blocks, giving the map an airy, measured rhythm distinct from denser Central Asian old towns.

Koteā ko Jizzax
A map of Jizzax is a quiet reminder of a hometown on the edge of the steppe, of the river and the road south toward the mountains. It works well for anyone who has left the region and wants its layout close at hand.
