Te mapa
Jojutla is a town in the south of Morelos, in the low, warm valleys that lead away from Mexico's central highlands. On a map, the city forms a dense grid of streets around its centre, with a river passing close by and farmland spreading out on every side. Roads connect it to Zacatepec, Tlaquiltenango and the lakes of the region.
The area is fertile, and sugarcane and rice have long been grown in the surrounding valley. Lake Tequesquitengo, a popular destination for water sports, lies a short distance to the northwest. The town is also remembered for the 2017 Puebla earthquake, which caused severe damage here, and much of the centre has since been rebuilt.
A Jojutla map poster brings together the regular streets of the centre, the curving line of the river and the agricultural land beyond. It captures a place with strong local identity, and for many residents a sense of recovery after a difficult period. The contrast of grid and field reads especially well in a minimalist print.
The town centre follows a close, regular street pattern typical of Mexican towns, forming the densest part of the map.
A river runs along the town, giving a winding natural line that softens the regular pattern of streets beside it.
Farmland, long used for sugarcane and rice, surrounds Jojutla and fills the edges of the poster with open space and field lines.
