Te mapa
Karnaphuli takes its name from the river that dominates southeastern Bangladesh. The Karnaphuli rises in the hills and flows through Chittagong Division to the Bay of Bengal, and it is the backbone of the regional economy. Its wide channel and the port traffic near Chittagong have made it one of the country's most important waterways.
From above, the river is the main feature. Its meanders sweep across the map in wide curves, with low banks, sandbars and side channels changing from season to season. Settlements cluster along the higher ground and main roads, and the space between them fills with fields, ponds and a fine web of village paths.
A Karnaphuli map poster keeps the river at the centre of the composition. In black and white, the water reads as one bold, curving shape, and the lighter road network around it shows how people have settled along its course. It makes a restrained, graphic print with a strong sense of place.
The broad, winding river gives the map its dominant curve and sets the layout of everything built along its banks.
Built-up areas follow the higher ground beside the water and along the main roads, forming bands of denser street pattern.
Small ponds and field boundaries fill the land between settlements, adding a quiet, dotted texture typical of the Bangladeshi countryside.
