Te mapa
Kasungu is the administrative centre of Kasungu District in Malawi's Central Region, sitting on the broad upland plateau north of Lilongwe. The M1, the country's main north–south road, runs past the town, and on a map it acts as a spine from which the rest of the street pattern branches. The built area is loose and open, with plenty of space between neighbourhoods.
The district is one of Malawi's important tobacco-growing areas, and the land around town is a patchwork of farms, small villages and scattered tracks. To the west lies Kasungu National Park, running up to the border with Zambia. Kasungu is also closely associated with Hastings Kamuzu Banda, Malawi's first president, who was born in the district.
A Kasungu map poster shows a town that has grown outward in an unhurried way. The main road gives it a clear axis, while side streets and footpaths thin out into the countryside. In black and white, the looser grain becomes a feature, with the map reading more like a careful sketch of a place than a dense urban grid.
Malawi's principal north–south highway passes the town, forming the strongest line on the map and linking Kasungu with Lilongwe to the south and Mzuzu to the north.
Neighbourhoods sit apart from each other, separated by open ground and gardens, so the street network appears in clusters rather than as one continuous block of development.
West of town the roads thin out as the land stretches toward Kasungu National Park and the Zambian border, a large protected area of woodland and grassland.

Koteā ko Kasungu
Kasungu means something specific to people from Malawi's central districts, and to those who have worked, studied or volunteered there. A map of the town is an understated reminder of a real place, one that fits a living room as easily as an office wall.
Add a title, a subtitle such as a year or a family name, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Pick one of five styles, from Classic black & white to Sand, and get the 300 DPI files for $9 or a printed poster from a partner in one of 30+ countries.
