Te mapa
Katrineholm, in Södermanland, is a town created by the railway. It grew up in the second half of the nineteenth century around the junction where the Southern Main Line branches off the Western Main Line, and it took its name from the nearby Katrineholm manor. The station is still the heart of the map, with tracks leading away in several directions.
Around it, the town centre is laid out in a planned grid of straight streets and rectangular blocks, typical of Swedish towns of the railway age. Beyond the centre, residential districts spread toward the surrounding countryside, and several lakes close to town add smooth, irregular shapes to the edges of the frame.
Parks and greenery run through the town, including Djulö, a wooded area with a lake and manor on its southern side. A Katrineholm map poster combines the precision of a railway-planned town with the softness of lake shores and woodland, making it a fitting print for residents, rail enthusiasts and anyone with family ties to Södermanland.
Main lines converge at the station, where the tracks form the strongest lines on the map and explain why the town exists where it does.
Straight streets and regular blocks spread out from the station, an orderly pattern that looks especially clean in minimalist styles.
Lakes close to the town add smooth, curving shorelines around the edges of the composition, softening the geometry of the streets.
