Te mapa
Kotā is a town in the Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh in central India. It serves as a market and administrative centre for the surrounding villages. The land around it is mostly farmland, largely rice fields, and to the north it rises toward forested hills that stretch into the higher ground of the Maikal range.
From above, the town is not a planned grid. It grows along its main roads, with shops and houses lining them. Smaller lanes branch off into residential clusters, and the built-up area thins out quickly into field boundaries and village paths. Water tanks and small streams add scattered irregular shapes.
A Kotā map poster shows the structure of a small Indian market town clearly. A few strong roads, a dense centre where they meet, and a wide rural landscape all around. In black and white, the network of fields and tracks around the town is as much a part of the picture as the streets themselves.
The centre forms where the main roads meet. Shops and houses cluster tightly there, and it is the densest part of the map.
The town extends along its main roads rather than in all directions. This gives the plan a branching, linear shape typical of market towns in the region.
Rice fields surround the town in small, irregular plots. Village paths and streams cross them, forming a soft pattern at the edges of the poster.
