Te mapa
Kōtari is a district of Nagaokakyō in Kyoto Prefecture, lying in the corridor between Kyoto and Osaka. The map shows a dense network of residential streets, crossed by parallel rail lines and main roads that carry traffic between the two cities.
To the west, the land rises toward wooded hills, and development thins out as the slopes steepen. Bamboo groves and small shrines appear on the map as open areas among the houses, adding texture to the regular layout of the flat land near the railway.
A Kōtari map poster reflects a place with deep historical roots. In the late eighth century the area was part of Nagaoka-kyō, the capital of Japan for a decade before the move to Heian-kyō, now Kyoto. The JR station here was known as Kōtari until it was renamed Nagaokakyō in 1995.
Railways run through the area in parallel, forming strong lines that divide the map and connect the district to Kyoto and Osaka.
Wooded slopes rise to the west, where the street network becomes sparse and the map opens into green, hilly terrain.
Narrow streets fill the flat land near the station, creating a fine and intricate pattern typical of Japanese suburban neighbourhoods.
