Te mapa
Kovilpatti is in the Thoothukudi district of southern Tamil Nadu, on the flat, dry plain that stretches inland from the Gulf of Mannar coast. From above, the town is a compact grid of lanes and blocks around its central temple and market streets. A national highway runs past on one side, the railway on the other, and open farmland surrounds it all.
The town is widely known for kadalai mittai, a peanut and jaggery sweet that carries a geographical indication tag in its Kovilpatti form. Kovilpatti and the surrounding area are also part of the region's match manufacturing belt, where small factories and workshops have long shaped local employment.
A Kovilpatti map poster is a study in straight lines. The highway and railway frame the town, and the street grid fills the space between them with even, closely spaced blocks. Scattered tanks and field boundaries at the edges add a softer rural texture, showing where the town ends and the black-soil farmland begins.
The national highway between Madurai and Tirunelveli runs along the town, a long straight line that links Kovilpatti to the rest of southern Tamil Nadu.
The main southern railway runs through Kovilpatti, and its station and tracks form a second strong axis beside the grid.
The oldest streets gather around the temple and bazaar area, forming the densest part of the town's street pattern.
