Te mapa
Kuah is the main town of Langkawi, the island group off the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia in the state of Kedah. It stretches along the island's southeastern shore, with streets running parallel to the water and the land climbing into forested hills behind. On a map, the coastline takes up much of the frame, and small islands sit scattered offshore.
Most visitors arriving by ferry come through Kuah's jetty, and the waterfront includes Eagle Square, where a large eagle sculpture refers to the legend behind the island's name. Langkawi's duty-free status has shaped the town's commercial streets, which stay close to the harbour, while quieter residential lanes spread inland along the valleys.
A Kuah map poster works best as a composition where land and sea meet. The shoreline is irregular, reclaimed land along the waterfront has straight, deliberate edges, and the offshore islands break up the open water. Even in monochrome, the map shows an island town clearly oriented toward the sea.
The jetty and reclaimed waterfront form straight, engineered edges against the natural coastline, marking where most travellers first arrive on Langkawi.
Small islands and islets lie offshore to the south and east. They break the empty water into a pattern of shapes that anchors the lower part of the poster.
The street network thins out where the terrain rises inland, so the hills appear as open space that frames the town from behind.

Koteā ko Kuah
Many people remember Langkawi from a holiday that began and ended at the Kuah jetty. A map of the town holds that arrival point, the harbour and the islands in a single frame, and it works just as well in a hallway as above a desk.
