Te mapa
Kyaukme lies in northern Shan State in Myanmar, on the route that links Mandalay with Lashio and the border region beyond. From above, the town follows this corridor. The main road and the railway run through the valley, and streets branch off them into neighbourhoods set among low hills and farmland.
The surrounding landscape is green and rolling, with tea gardens, fields and villages scattered across the uplands. Kyaukme has become known among travellers as a base for walking trips into these hills, where small settlements are linked by paths and dirt roads. The town itself remains a market centre for the area.
A Kyaukme map poster shows a town shaped by its transport lines: the long axis of road and rail, the compact centre around them, and the looser pattern of streets on the slopes. In black and white, the hills and scattered villages around the edges add depth to a simple, linear plan.
The main road and the railway line toward Lashio pass through Kyaukme, forming a strong axis on the map along which the town has developed.
The densest part of town gathers near the main routes, where the market and shops serve the surrounding hill villages and farms.
Low hills, fields and tea-growing areas surround the town, crossed by tracks leading to villages, giving the map a gentle, rural frame.
