Te mapa
La Maná lies in the western part of Cotopaxi province, where the Andes drop toward Ecuador's coastal lowlands. Most of Cotopaxi is high mountain country, but La Maná sits much lower, in a warm, humid zone. On a map it marks the point where steep terrain gives way to broad, flatter ground.
The town is built on a grid of streets along its main road, with rivers flowing down from the mountains nearby. The surrounding land is intensively farmed, with bananas, cacao and other tropical crops. The map shows a network of rural roads linking fields and small settlements across the plain.
The road through La Maná connects the highland city of Latacunga with Quevedo and the coast, so the town is a passage between two very different parts of the country. A La Maná map poster records that meeting of highland and lowland Ecuador in the simple lines of streets, rivers and rural roads.
The main road climbs east toward Latacunga and descends west toward Quevedo. It crosses the town as its central axis.
Straight blocks form the core of the town along the main road. It is a compact, orderly area in contrast to the irregular countryside around it.
Rural roads branch out through banana and cacao farms around the town. They cover the lowland with a web of lines that thins toward the hills.

Koteā ko La Maná
For people from La Maná, and for travelers who remember the long drive down from the Andes, this map captures the place where the mountains end. Its mix of grid and winding roads gives the poster a lively but balanced look.
