Te mapa
La Trinidad is the capital of Benguet province, set in a valley in the Cordillera immediately north of Baguio. The two places run into each other along the main highway, but on a map La Trinidad has its own distinct shape: a relatively level valley floor surrounded by steep slopes, with roads following the contours of the land rather than straight lines.
Much of the valley floor is given over to vegetable gardens and strawberry fields, and the town is widely known as the strawberry capital of the Philippines. From above, these plots form a fine patchwork between clusters of housing, while the hillsides fill with homes stacked along narrow access roads, some of them painted in large murals that have become well known among visitors.
Benguet State University occupies a large area within the municipality, and provincial offices add further institutional blocks near the centre. A La Trinidad map poster reduces all of this to its essential lines: winding switchback roads, a compact core and the open ground of the farms, framed by the highland terrain that sets the valley apart from the lowlands below.
Level ground in the middle of the map holds farm plots and the town centre, standing out against the tightly curving roads on the surrounding slopes.
Cultivated plots near the centre supply the strawberries La Trinidad is known for, appearing on the map as open spaces broken only by paths and small clusters of buildings.
Roads leading up out of the valley bend repeatedly to follow the slopes, creating looping lines that give the poster a sense of height even in flat black and white.
