Te mapa
Lakeland is named for its water, and from above the lakes are what stands out. Dozens of small, mostly round lakes are scattered across the city, and the street grid bends around each one. Downtown sits between Lake Mirror and Lake Morton, and larger bodies of water such as Lake Hollingsworth sit to the south. Interstate 4 passes north of the centre on its route between Tampa and Orlando.
Florida Southern College, on the shore of Lake Hollingsworth, has the largest single-site collection of buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Lakeland is also the headquarters of the Publix supermarket chain. Lake Morton is known for its swans, which have lived in the city for decades.
A Lakeland map poster turns this pattern into a graphic composition. Solid, rounded lake shapes break up the neighbourhoods, circular drives follow their shores, and the grid seems to move around the water instead of through it.
Lake Mirror and Lake Morton sit on either side of the historic centre. Their rounded shapes and shoreline roads frame the downtown streets.
A larger lake south of the centre, lined with a loop road and bordered by the Florida Southern College campus.
Smaller lakes appear throughout the city, turning the street pattern into a series of curves and dead ends around the water.

Koteā ko Lakeland
Lakeland residents and Florida Southern alumni often choose this map because the lakes are what people remember: evening walks around Lake Morton and the loop around Hollingsworth. It is one of the most distinctive city maps in Florida.
