Te mapa
Laranjeiro lies in the municipality of Almada, on the south bank of the Tagus, across the water from Lisbon. It is mostly a residential area that grew during the second half of the twentieth century, as the south bank filled in with housing for people working across the river. From above it is compact, with apartment blocks set in tight groups and streets that follow the slightly uneven ground.
The name means orange tree, a reminder of the orchards and farms that once covered this land. Today the map is urban almost everywhere, broken only by small green spaces and by the wide lines of the roads and rail that carry traffic toward the bridges into Lisbon.
A Laranjeiro map poster shows how the south bank is put together: residential clusters, transport corridors and, nearby, the soft edges of estuary water. It is a local map of a place many people know as home rather than as a destination, drawn with the same care as any capital.
The area faces Lisbon across the Tagus. The estuary's inlets and shorelines give the surrounding map its only broad, open shapes.
Motorway and rail lines run past in long, confident strokes. They carry daily traffic toward the river crossings and frame the housing blocks.
Apartment blocks gather in short, dense streets, and on paper they form a fine, busy texture around small squares and parks.

The map suits anyone who grew up on the Margem Sul or still crosses the river every day. It honours a neighbourhood that rarely gets a poster of its own and deserves one.
