Te mapa
Le Hochet lies in the Pamplemousses district, a short distance north of Port Louis. From above, it is a largely residential area, with streets branching from main roads into small neighbourhood lanes. The land slopes gently from the higher interior toward the western coast, and the street pattern follows the terrain rather than a strict grid.
The area forms part of the growing suburban belt around the capital, with houses, local shops and small businesses along the main roads. Fields of sugarcane, long a defining feature of the Mauritian landscape, have traditionally surrounded many of the settlements in this part of the island.
A Le Hochet map poster offers a quiet, close portrait of a Mauritian neighbourhood rather than a postcard view. Rendered in black and white, the branching streets and main road connections form a clear, lively pattern that anyone who knows the area will recognise at once.
Local streets split off from the main roads into short lanes and small clusters, giving the map a fine, organic texture.
Principal roads connect the area toward Port Louis and the north, forming the strongest lines running through the composition.
The ground rises slowly away from the coast, and the street layout bends with it, avoiding a rigid grid.
