Te mapa
Le Port is on the northwest coast of Réunion, on a broad, flat point of land built up by the Rivière des Galets. As its name suggests, the town grew around the harbour built here in the late nineteenth century. Today that harbour is Réunion's main commercial port, handling most of the goods that come to and leave the island, and it remains central to the town's life and work.
From above, Le Port looks quite unlike most of Réunion. Where the rest of the coast climbs steeply towards volcanic peaks, this town sits on level ground, laid out on a regular grid of long straight streets. The harbour basins and quays form large geometric shapes along the shore, and the riverbed of the Rivière des Galets marks a wide boundary to the south.
A Le Port map poster captures the clear geometry of a town planned for trade. In monochrome, the grid, the angular harbour basins and the open sea make a strong composition of straight lines and flat space. It is an unusual view of Réunion, organised and coastal rather than mountainous.
The quays and basins of Réunion's main port run along the coast. Their bold angular outlines give the map a strong industrial edge.
The town is built on level land with long straight streets, so it looks orderly on the map, in contrast to the island's steep terrain elsewhere.
The wide stony bed of the river runs along the southern side and forms a broad pale band between the town and the land beyond.

Koteā ko Le Port
Many people's families have worked the docks here for generations, and others grew up in Le Port before moving to mainland France. A map of the town is a strong reminder of home, well suited to an apartment or a gift.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be personalised, in French if you prefer, and the map comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files cost $9, and printed posters ship from partners in over 30 countries.
