Te mapa
Lincoln Park is one of the Downriver communities south-west of Detroit. From above it is almost entirely grid: short blocks of small houses laid out in tight rows, with a few wide avenues carrying traffic and shops. The Ecorse River winds across the city, breaking the straight streets with a curving green line, and parks and school grounds add small open spaces.
The city grew quickly in the early and middle twentieth century as workers in Detroit's car plants and the industrial riverside needed homes nearby. Many of its bungalows and modest brick houses date from that period, which gives the neighbourhoods a very consistent feel. Today it remains a mostly residential city with strong local ties.
A Lincoln Park map poster turns the dense, regular grid into a fine, almost textile pattern, crossed by the soft line of the river and the stronger lines of the main roads. It is an honest portrait of a working suburb and a good choice for anyone whose family history runs through the Downriver area.
Short, regular blocks of houses cover most of the city and create a tight, even pattern across the whole print.
The river crosses Lincoln Park in a winding path, one of the few curved lines in a very straight layout.
A few wide commercial roads run through the grid, standing out as thicker lines that divide the neighbourhoods.
