Te mapa
Longcheng is a town in the eastern part of Gansu Province, in the loess country that stretches across this part of northwest China. Settlements here tend to occupy the valley floors, where the land is level and water runs, and from above the town reads as a band of streets following the course of its valley between higher ground on either side.
The surrounding hills are shaped by generations of farming, much of it on terraced slopes. On the map this country appears as open ground crossed by winding minor roads that climb toward villages on the ridges, while the main routes keep to the valleys, linking the town with its neighbours. Watercourses thread between the hills in branching lines.
A Longcheng map poster turns this terrain into a quiet, detailed pattern. The linear town, the winding valley and the open hills crossed by narrow roads together create an image that feels very different from a city grid. It is a meaningful choice for families with roots in eastern Gansu, and an interesting one for anyone drawn to landscapes shaped by agriculture.
The built-up area stretches along the valley bottom, giving the town an elongated, linear shape bounded by rising ground on both sides.
Between the valleys lie broad hills of loess farmland, shown as quiet open space that sets off the denser street pattern of the town.
Small roads climb from the valley to villages on the higher ground, threading across the hills in long, winding paths.

Many people from Gansu's countryside now live in larger cities across China and beyond. A map of their home town is a personal, understated link to a landscape of valleys and hills that looks like nowhere else.
