Te mapa
Lubao is in the province of Pampanga, on the low, watery land near the northern shore of Manila Bay. From above, the town centre is a modest street grid, surrounded by rivers, channels, fishponds and rice paddies. The fishponds form a pattern of rectangles that grows larger and more regular toward the bay.
The town is one of the oldest in Pampanga. Its large Augustinian church, the San Agustin Church, dates back to the Spanish colonial period. Lubao is also the birthplace of Diosdado Macapagal, the ninth president of the Philippines.
A Lubao map poster places a small colonial-era town against a very watery landscape. The street pattern clusters around the old centre, while the channels and ponds take up much of the sheet. The result is calm and horizontal, much like the land itself.
The old town centre, with its church and nearby streets, forms the densest part of the map.
Toward the bay, large rectangular fishponds tile the land and create a strong geometric pattern.
Rivers and tidal channels wind across the flat ground and link the town to Manila Bay.
