Te mapa
Majayjay sits on the northern slopes of Mount Banahaw in the province of Laguna. From above, the town is a small cluster on sloping ground, with roads following the contours and streams cutting deep ravines down the mountain. Above the town, the map quickly becomes forest, and below it the land drops toward the plains and Laguna de Bay.
The town has one of the Philippines' notable Spanish-era stone churches, the church of Saint Gregory the Great, dating back to the colonial period. Majayjay is also known for Taytay Falls, reached by a road and trail heading up into the mountain forest.
A Majayjay map poster reflects its steep setting. The compact centre around the church and plaza, the winding roads leading uphill and downhill, and the streams cutting through the slope give a sense of height that is rare for such a small town.
The historic stone church and its plaza anchor the centre of town. The streets gather around them, forming the densest part of the map.
Roads curve around the slope of Mount Banahaw instead of running straight. On paper their bends give the poster a flowing, topographic feel.
Streams run down the mountain in narrow ravines toward the lowland. They cross the map in thin, branching lines, some leading toward waterfalls above the town.
