Te mapa
Binangonan, in Rizal province east of Metro Manila, is shaped by Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the Philippines. The municipality occupies a peninsula projecting into the lake, and it also includes most of Talim Island, the large island that sits in the middle of the lake. From above, water surrounds the town on several sides, and the shoreline is its main outline.
The mainland part rises from the lakeshore into hills, with coastal roads following the water and neighbourhoods climbing inland. Fishing and fish farming have long been important here, and the lake's surface near the shore is often marked by fish pens. The municipality is also home to the Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs, rock carvings considered among the oldest known artworks in the Philippines.
A Binangonan map poster sets the curved peninsula against broad expanses of lake, with Talim Island forming a large and irregular shape nearby. The roads along the shore, the denser town centre and the sparser hills behind give the map a strong sense of place, in which land and water carry equal weight.
The mainland part of the municipality projects into Laguna de Bay, with roads following the curved shoreline and water visible on both sides of the peninsula.
The large island in the middle of the lake belongs largely to Binangonan, and its hilly, irregular shape takes up a large part of the map, separated from the mainland by a narrow channel.
The main roads run close to the water, connecting lakeside villages, while smaller streets climb into the hills inland, giving the map a clear pattern of coast and slope.

Koteā ko Binangonan
Binangonan is a place of lake mornings and fishing boats, and for many it is simply home in Rizal. A map that shows the peninsula and Talim Island together holds that landscape on one wall.
