Te mapa
Antipolo sits on the western slopes of the uplands east of Metro Manila, in the province of Rizal. On a map, this shows immediately: the orderly lowland grid of the capital region gives way to roads that wind, branch and double back as they follow the contours of the hills. Neighbourhoods cluster along ridgelines, while ravines and streams leave long empty gaps between them.
The city has long been a place of pilgrimage. Its cathedral houses the image of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, and the pilgrimage to it is a well-known tradition in the Philippines. Many visitors also come for the elevated views back across the metropolis, especially in the evening when the plain below is lit.
An Antipolo map poster turns that terrain into pure line work. Main roads climb from the lowlands and then fan into smaller streets that end abruptly at slopes. The result is looser and more organic than most city maps, with pale open spaces where the land is too steep to build and dense pockets where it levels out.
Major routes rise from the Manila plain and bend repeatedly as they gain height, giving the map a series of long curves instead of straight avenues.
Housing follows the tops of ridges and gentler slopes, so built-up areas appear as elongated clusters separated by the white space of valleys and ravines.
The western side of the map meets the denser lowland street pattern of the capital region, a clear visual border between plain and hills.

Koteā ko Antipolo
Antipolo is a gift for someone who grew up on its slopes, made the pilgrimage, or moved up from the city for cooler air and a view. The winding roads give the poster a hand-drawn feel that suits a quiet wall.
