Te mapa
Majie is part of Kunming, the capital of Yunnan. It lies on the western side of the city, on the high plateau at close to 1,900 metres. Here the terrain begins to change. To the south is Dian Lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in the region, and to the southwest the Western Hills rise steeply above the water.
On a map the area reads as a mix of urban blocks, industrial sites and newer residential compounds. Many are laid out as large rectangles with their own internal roads. Main roads run east toward central Kunming and west toward the hills. The pattern is less intricate than an old town, but it shows clearly how a Chinese city grows outward in large planned pieces.
Kunming is known as the Spring City for its mild climate all year. The Western Hills, with temples and paths carved into the cliffs above Dian Lake, are among its best-known sights. A Majie map poster places this part of the city in its setting: lake, hills and the steady spread of streets between them.
Depending on the framing, the northern edge of Dian Lake appears at the bottom of the map. It forms a large area of water that anchors the composition.
Beyond the last streets the ground rises toward the Western Hills, and the road network thins into a few winding routes.
Much of the area is made of big rectangular compounds with their own internal lanes. They give the map a bold, modular texture.

Koteā ko Majie
A map of Majie suits people who have lived, studied or worked in western Kunming, or who remember the road toward the lake and the hills. It records one specific part of the city rather than the familiar centre.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to add a name, a year or a personal note. Then pick from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint works especially well for the lake.
