Te mapa
Mangaratiba lies on the Costa Verde, the green coast of Rio de Janeiro state, where steep hills covered in Atlantic forest drop almost directly into the sea. From above, the coastline is intricate: coves, beaches and small peninsulas alternate along the shore, while the built-up areas squeeze into the narrow flat strips between mountains and water.
The Rio–Santos highway follows this coast, linking the town's districts in a long, winding line. Mangaratiba is also one of the departure points for ferries to Ilha Grande, and to the east stretches the long sandbar of Marambaia, which encloses Sepetiba Bay. The map is as much about water and slopes as about streets.
A Mangaratiba map poster emphasises that dramatic geography. The detailed coastline, the scattered islands and the thin ribbons of settlement produce a composition where the sea dominates and streets are fine accents. It is a fitting choice for anyone who has holidayed along the Costa Verde or keeps a house by these bays.
Beaches, rocky points and small coves create a complex shoreline. On the poster it becomes a long, intricate line separating land from open water, the defining feature of the print.
The coastal highway winds between the hills and the sea, tying the scattered districts together. On the map it appears as a continuous thread tracing the curves of the coast.
Offshore, islands of various sizes dot the bays, and ferries run towards Ilha Grande. These shapes break up the open water and give the composition depth and balance.
