The Ganges
The broad river, split into channels around sandbars, fills much of the poster and gives it an unusual, flowing design shaped by water rather than streets.

Te mapa
Manihāri is a town in the Katihar district of Bihar, on the northern bank of the Ganges. The river here is very wide, with shifting channels and sandbanks, and it dominates the map. The town sits on firm ground near the water, while the floodplain spreads out in broad, pale shapes that change with each monsoon.
Manihāri is best known for its ghat, the river landing from which ferries have long carried passengers and goods across the Ganges to Sahebganj in Jharkhand. Away from the river, the streets give way to flat, fertile farmland crossed by roads and by the railway leading north to Katihar.
A Manihāri map poster captures a town defined by its river. Sandbars, side channels and the long line of the bank fill most of the design, with the compact street pattern set against them. It is a fitting portrait of a place whose daily life follows the crossings, the floods and the seasons of the Ganges.
The broad river, split into channels around sandbars, fills much of the poster and gives it an unusual, flowing design shaped by water rather than streets.
Roads and paths converge on the riverbank at the ghat, the town's long-standing crossing point to Sahebganj on the opposite shore.
Flat fields stretch away from the river, crossed by rural roads and the railway toward Katihar, and frame the town on its landward side.

Manihāri is a place of arrivals and departures, and many people remember it through the ferry journey across the river. A map of it keeps both the town and the Ganges in view, a meaningful piece for families from Katihar district wherever they now live.
