Te mapa
Bhāgalpur stretches along the southern bank of the Ganges in eastern Bihar, and the river is the dominant feature of its map: wide, shifting and edged with sandbanks that change shape from season to season. The old city lies close to the water in a dense web of narrow lanes, while newer neighbourhoods, the railway and main roads spread south onto the flat plain.
The city is known across India as the Silk City for its tussar silk, woven on handlooms in neighbourhoods around town. The stretch of the Ganges near Bhāgalpur is protected as the Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary, named, like the local bridge, after the ancient Buddhist university of Vikramshila, whose ruins lie some distance to the east.
A Bhāgalpur map poster places the city in its true setting, with the river running across the sheet as a broad, organic band and the urban fabric pressed against its bank. Lanes, markets and ponds crowd the centre, and the outer districts open into fields. It is a map in which the Ganges is never just a background.
The river flows along the city's northern side in a wide channel with sandbars and seasonal islands, forming the strongest and most changeable line on the map.
One of the longer river bridges in India, the Vikramshila Setu crosses the Ganges from Bhāgalpur to the north bank, a single straight line across the water.
Near the river, the older quarters form a dense tangle of narrow streets and markets, including the areas associated with the city's silk weaving.

Koteā ko Bhāgalpur
Bhāgalpur has sent generations of students and workers to Patna, Delhi, Kolkata and beyond, and a map of home is a simple way to keep the Ganges and the old neighbourhoods close. It also makes a meaningful gift for a family wedding or a new home.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line to mark a mohalla, a family name or a date. Choose between five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, as $9 HD files with no watermark or as a printed poster.
