Marina Bay is one of the newest parts of Singapore, built largely on land reclaimed from the sea from the 1970s onward. The Marina Barrage, completed in 2008, now closes off the bay and has turned it into a freshwater reservoir. On a map the district forms a ring of promenades, roads and building plots around a broad expanse of water.
The three towers of Marina Bay Sands stand on the south side, linked by their rooftop SkyPark, with Gardens by the Bay and its Supertree Grove beyond them. On the opposite shores, the Esplanade theatres and the Merlion face the water. The Helix Bridge and other crossings join the promenade into a continuous loop around the bay.
The financial district around Raffles Place rises to the west, where its older street pattern meets the broader, more open layout of the reclaimed land. A Marina Bay map poster shows that contrast clearly: a still bay at the centre and a planned waterfront around it, on ground that was open sea only a few decades ago.
The broad body of water at the centre is fed by the Singapore River and closed off by the barrage, which gives the composition a strong, open core.
The curving pedestrian bridge links Marina Centre with Marina South and forms part of the promenade that runs in a continuous loop around the water.
South of the bay, the gardens spread out as a large area of curving paths and conservatories, a softer shape next to the regular plots of the financial district.

Koteā ko Marina Bay
Marina Bay suits anyone who has lived or worked in Singapore, watched the New Year fireworks by the water or simply admires planned cities. The bay at its centre gives the poster a strong, modern structure that fits clean interiors.
Add your own title and subtitle, perhaps the date you arrived, edit the coordinates line and pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir emphasises the water, while Blueprint suits the engineered waterfront.
