Mangrove creeks
Tidal channels cut deep into the land around the town. On the poster they read as a fine, branching pattern that carries more detail than the streets themselves.

A coastal town frayed into mangrove creeks, where short roads end at jetties and tidal water reaches far inland.

Te mapa
Māyābandar sits on the eastern side of Middle Andaman, where the land breaks into creeks and narrow tidal channels before it reaches the open Andaman Sea. From above, the town is less a grid than a scatter. A few roads follow the higher ground, jetties push into sheltered water, and long fingers of mangrove shoreline make the coast look as if it was drawn with a fine, hesitant pen.
The town is the administrative centre of the North and Middle Andaman district. The Andaman Trunk Road links it to the rest of the island chain, and boats cover the gaps the road cannot. Villages nearby are home to a Karen community whose families came from Burma during the colonial period, one of the quieter threads in the islands' story.
A Māyābandar map poster reduces all of this to line and space: the dense texture of the creeks, the thin road network and the white of open water. It is a map that rewards close looking, because the place is defined less by its streets than by the long, irregular edge between land and sea.
Tidal channels cut deep into the land around the town. On the poster they read as a fine, branching pattern that carries more detail than the streets themselves.
Short roads run down to the water and stop. They are a reminder that much of the island's movement still happens by boat rather than on land.
The Andaman Trunk Road arrives from the south and ties the town to the wider island chain. It is the one continuous line through an otherwise broken coastline.

Koteā ko Māyābandar
For anyone who has worked, travelled or grown up in the Andamans, this map records a place that few people ever see from above. It is a quiet, detailed piece that sits comfortably on a wall far from the sea.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a date or a name, and the coordinates line. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint makes the creeks especially striking.
