Monte Llano lies in Puerto Plata province on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, a short distance inland from the city of Puerto Plata. The land here is a mix of low hills, small valleys and farmland, with the Atlantic just beyond. On a map, the town is a cluster of streets along a few main roads, closely surrounded by green countryside.
The layout is loose. Main streets run through the town and connect it to the coastal highway and neighbouring communities, and side streets branch off them in short, irregular runs.
