Te mapa
La Vega lies in the Cibao Valley, the broad agricultural heartland of the Dominican Republic, with the Cordillera Central rising to the west. The Camú River passes the city, and the valley floor around it is divided into fields. The centre follows a grid of blocks around a main square, while newer districts spread outward along roads toward Santiago and Santo Domingo.
The city's origins date to the early colonial period: the original settlement, founded under Columbus near the Santo Cerro hill, was destroyed by an earthquake in 1562, and its ruins are preserved as La Vega Vieja. The present city is known for its modernist cathedral and especially for its carnival, where masked diablos cojuelos fill the streets every February.
A La Vega map poster shows the city as the valley sees it: a compact grid, a river line curving past, and the patterned farmland all around. The Duarte highway cuts a straight line through the region, while smaller roads lead toward the hills. It is a map of a working valley town with deep colonial roots.
The Camú River runs past the city, adding a gently curving line of water that separates the built-up area from parts of the surrounding farmland.
The historic centre is organised in regular blocks around the main square and the cathedral, a clear core from which the rest of La Vega extends.
Around the city, the fertile Cibao Valley appears as a quilt of field boundaries and rural roads, with the Cordillera Central rising toward the west.

Koteā ko La Vega
La Vega is carnival masks, family visits and the green valley between the mountains. For Dominicans at home or abroad, a map of the city is a quiet way to keep that place present, and a thoughtful gift for anyone with roots here.
Personalise the title and subtitle, for example with your barrio or a year, and keep the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the $9 HD files in six sizes, or order a matte printed poster from a nearby print partner.
