Te mapa
Mpigi is the administrative centre of Mpigi District in Uganda's Central Region, a short drive southwest of Kampala. It lies on the main highway toward Masaka and the southwest, and from above the town is shaped mostly by that road. Buildings and side streets line the route, while the land beyond breaks into low hills, farmland and the swampy valleys typical of this part of Buganda.
The district is known for its crafts, including traditional drums made in workshops along the highway. It also has forest reserves that protect patches of the tropical forest that once covered much of the region. The town itself is modest and practical, a place of markets, schools and district offices that serve the surrounding villages.
A Mpigi map poster draws this simple layout with care: the highway as a firm central line, the looser pattern of lanes around it, and the gaps left by valleys and wetlands. It will mean most to people who grew up here, work in the district, or regularly drive between Kampala and Masaka.
The main road runs straight through town and dominates the composition. Most streets feed directly into it.
Low, marshy ground between the hills leaves open spaces on the map and breaks the settlement into a series of ridges and hollows.
Away from the highway, smaller roads and tracks climb the gentle hills in irregular patterns, adding texture to the edges of the poster.
