Mundargi is a taluk town in Gadag district in northern Karnataka. It sits on the broad, open Deccan plateau. From above the town is compact, with a cluster of streets around its market area and roads leading out in several directions to the villages of the taluk.
The landscape around it is largely agricultural, with wide fields and few large settlements. The Tungabhadra river marks part of the taluk's boundary, and farther from town the land is broken in places by low rocky hills typical of the region.
