Nabīnagar is a town in the Brahmanbaria district of eastern Bangladesh, in the low, flat country of the great river delta. The landscape here is shaped by water. Rivers, seasonal channels and countless ponds cut through the land, and settlements sit on slightly raised ground between them. From above, the town reads as a cluster of lanes with water on several sides.
The street pattern is irregular, following embankments and the edges of ponds rather than any grid. Small rectangular tanks appear throughout the built-up area as neat blank shapes, a characteristic detail of Bangladeshi towns.
