Te mapa
Nagakute lies on the eastern edge of the Nagoya urban area, where the flat city gives way to low, forested hills. On a map the town appears as a mix of residential neighbourhoods, winding roads that follow the terrain, university campuses and large green patches. The street pattern is looser than in central Nagoya, shaped by slopes and small valleys.
The town's most recognisable feature is the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park, the former site of the World Expo, which now also contains Ghibli Park. Nagakute is also the site of the 1584 Battle of Komaki and Nagakute, and the Linimo magnetic levitation line, built for the Expo, crosses the town on its route east.
A Nagakute map poster shows how suburb and landscape interlock here: cul-de-sacs and curving roads climbing into the hills, the broad open shape of the park, and the clean line of the Linimo track running through it all. It is a quieter, more organic composition than most maps of the Nagoya area.
The former Expo site is a large green area of paths, ponds and woodland, and it now houses Ghibli Park, making it the most distinctive shape on the map.
Japan's first commercial urban maglev runs through Nagakute, and its route reads as a single smooth line crossing the hills between Nagoya and Toyota.
Residential streets bend around low wooded rises, producing curving, branching patterns that contrast with the straighter grids of the plain to the west.

Koteā ko Nagakute
Many people know Nagakute through study, family or a visit to the Expo park and its Ghibli attractions. A map of the town keeps that connection in a form that is personal without being a souvenir.
Add your own title and a date to the subtitle, adjust the coordinates line, and choose one of five styles, from Noir to Paper. HD files cost $9, or a printed poster can be shipped with an optional wooden frame.
