Te mapa
Narakal lies on Vypin Island, the long, narrow barrier island north of Kochi in Kerala. On a map it is defined by water on both sides: the Arabian Sea along a straight western beach and the calm backwaters to the east. The coastal road runs up the middle, with lanes branching off to each shore.
The coast here is known for its mud banks, locally called chakara, which appear during the monsoon. These calm the sea near the shore and draw fishing boats and seasonal catches. Beyond the backwater channels lie Kochi's port and islands, which are close enough to appear at the edge of a wider frame.
A Narakal map poster records a very particular shape: a ribbon of settlement only a short walk wide, with the ocean on one side and the lagoon on the other. Small canals and prawn ponds break up the eastern edge. The result is a long, linear, gently layered composition that suits a portrait format.
A long, almost straight sandy shoreline marks the western edge of the island and gives the poster a clean, firm boundary.
On the eastern side, channels, ponds and inlets create an intricate, fragmented shoreline that contrasts with the smooth sea coast opposite.
A single main road runs north to south along the island's length, with short lanes branching toward the beach and the backwaters.

Koteā ko Narakal
For Malayali families across the Gulf and beyond, Narakal is a home coast, a place of monsoons, fish markets and relatives' houses. A map carries that narrow island onto a wall far away and makes it look quietly elegant.
