Te mapa
New Georgia is the largest island in the New Georgia group in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands. Its outline is irregular, with a mountainous, forested interior and a coastline broken by bays and passages. What makes it distinctive on a map, though, is what surrounds it: long chains of barrier islands and reefs enclosing lagoons.
On the southwest coast, Roviana Lagoon stretches behind a line of low barrier islands, and Munda, the main settlement, sits at its western end with an airfield beside it. To the east, Marovo Lagoon is among the largest saltwater lagoons in the world, dotted with hundreds of small islands and reef patches.
Munda and the surrounding waters were the site of heavy fighting in 1943 during the Second World War, and remnants of that period still lie in the jungle and on the seabed. A New Georgia map poster captures the layered shape of the place: forested land, barrier islands and wide inner lagoons.

Along the southwest coast, a long line of low islands shelters a calm lagoon. It gives the island a doubled coastline, the reef edge running parallel to the main shore.
The island's main settlement and airfield sit at the western end of Roviana Lagoon. The runway's straight line is one of the few geometric marks on an otherwise organic map.

Koteā ko New Georgia
New Georgia draws divers, people with family in the Western Province, and those who follow Pacific war history. The map shows lagoons and islands as intricate as lace, a striking piece for a wall that deserves something detailed.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a dive trip or family name and year. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the reefs and passages well.
