Nga Sơn is in the northern part of Thanh Hóa Province, where the southern edge of the Red River Delta meets the Gulf of Tonkin. The land is low and flat. On a map, the town sits among regular fields, with rivers, canals and sea dykes drawing long lines toward the coast.
