Te mapa
Nishifukuma lies in the Fukuma area of Fukutsu, a small city in Fukuoka Prefecture on the coast of the Genkai Sea. It sits between Fukuoka city to the south and Munakata to the north. From above, residential streets fill the flat land near the coast, with green hills rising inland and a railway line running close to the shore.
The coastline is the defining line on the map, with long, open beaches facing the sea. Nearby, Fukutsu is known for Miyajidake Shrine, whose approach lines up with the setting sun at certain times of the year. It is a small reminder of how closely life here is tied to the sea and the horizon.
A Nishifukuma map poster shows a quiet commuter area without a great deal of fame, and the map does most of the storytelling. The regular streets of housing, the railway, the hills and the clear edge of the shore make a balanced composition. It suits people who grew up here or who moved to the coast for a calmer life near Fukuoka.
A long, open shoreline marks the western edge of the map. The beach reads as a single clean line between the streets and the sea.
The railway runs parallel to the coast and links the area with Fukuoka and Kitakyushu. It is a strong straight line through the residential streets.
Low wooded hills rise behind the houses. They form a soft, open area on the map, where the dense street pattern fades out.

Koteā ko Nishifukuma
Nishifukuma is home for people who chose the coast over the city, or who grew up between the beach and the hills. A map of those few streets is personal in a way a famous skyline is not. It fits well in an entrance hall or a bedroom.
