Te mapa
Nōgata lies in the Chikuhō region of Fukuoka Prefecture, an area that was once one of Japan's most important coalfields. The town sits along the Onga River, and the river's broad course, with its tributaries joining nearby, is the defining feature of the map. Streets cluster close to the water, and the flat valley floor gives the centre an even, dense texture.
Several rail lines converge on the town, tracing long curves across the plan and linking it to Kitakyushu and Fukuoka. Beyond the built-up area, low hills close in on either side of the valley, so the town has a clear boundary where the street network gives way to wooded slopes and farmland.
After the coal industry declined, Nōgata became a quieter residential and commercial centre, but the geography that made it a transport hub remains visible. A Nōgata map poster brings together the river, the rail lines and the compact centre in crisp black lines, showing a town shaped by water and industry rather than by planning.
The wide Onga River runs through the city with tributaries merging nearby, forming broad, flowing shapes that dominate the composition.
Several lines meet here, drawing long curved tracks through the town that recall its past as a coal transport hub.
Low hills rise on either side of the flat valley floor, giving the dense street network a natural edge that frames the map.
