Te mapa
NoMa, short for North of Massachusetts Avenue, is a neighbourhood in Washington, D.C., just north of the Capitol and Union Station. Its map is shaped by two strong systems. One is the city's street grid, crossed by L'Enfant's diagonal avenues. The other is the wide band of railway tracks that fan out north from Union Station along the neighbourhood's eastern side.
In recent decades, NoMa has changed from a district of warehouses and rail yards into one of dense offices and apartments. NPR's headquarters is here, and the Metropolitan Branch Trail runs beside the tracks. The NoMa–Gallaudet U Metro station connects the area to the Red Line, with Gallaudet University just to the north-east.
A NoMa map poster brings the angular geometry of central Washington into focus. The numbered and lettered streets, the diagonal cuts of New York Avenue and Florida Avenue, and the thick rail corridor combine into a composition that is precise and distinctly urban.
Tracks leaving Union Station form a broad band along the east side of the neighbourhood, one of the heaviest lines on the map.
New York Avenue and Florida Avenue cut across the grid at an angle, following Pierre L'Enfant's plan for the city.
This walking and cycling path runs alongside the railway, connecting NoMa to neighbourhoods further north and adding a thin, continuous line beside the tracks.

Koteā ko NoMa
Many people move to NoMa for a job or a first apartment in the capital, and this map is a clean way to remember those years. The Washington grid looks good on the wall, and it looks especially sharp in the Blueprint style.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a building name or a move-in date. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
