Te mapa
Nordenham lies in the Wesermarsch district of Lower Saxony, on the western bank of the Weser close to where the river widens into its estuary. The town stretches along the shore, and quays, industrial sites and port facilities line the waterfront. Residential streets fill the land behind them in a fairly regular pattern, and the whole town is protected by dikes along the river.
Across the water lies Bremerhaven, linked to Nordenham by a car ferry, and the wide river takes up a large part of the map. Inland, the marsh is flat and crossed by a dense network of drainage ditches and straight field boundaries. Farmsteads sit on the low ground in long lines along roads. It is a landscape of horizontal lines and water.
Nordenham developed as a port and industrial town, with metalworking and shipping playing a significant role in its growth. The district of Blexen, at the northern end, has one of the oldest churches in the area. A Nordenham map poster captures a North Sea river town, with a wide estuary on one side, drained marshland on the other, and the town set along the dike between them.
Quays and port areas line the river, and the broad expanse of the Weser takes up a large, calm part of the composition.
A car ferry crosses the river to Bremerhaven, linking the two towns and marking a clear line across the water on the map.
Behind the town, a fine grid of ditches and fields covers the flat Wesermarsch, forming a delicate, repetitive pattern.

Koteā ko Nordenham
Nordenham suits people with ties to the Lower Saxony coast, port workers, sailors and anyone who has taken the ferry across the Weser. The combination of wide water and detailed marsh makes a striking composition, especially in Blueprint or Classic black & white.
