Te mapa
Novokuybyshevsk was built in the years after the Second World War, southwest of Samara, as a home for the workers of a new oil refinery. Unlike older Volga towns, it did not grow gradually. Planners drew it in one go, and the map still shows that intention in its straight avenues, regular blocks and clear division between housing and industry.
The residential city and the industrial zone sit side by side. The refinery and petrochemical plants cover large areas of tanks, pipelines and service roads. On the map they form a distinct area of geometric shapes quite unlike the housing blocks. Forest and farmland spread around the edges, and the Volga lowlands lie close by.
A Novokuybyshevsk map poster reads almost like a planning document. It shows the order of the residential grid, the scale of the industrial land and the green belt between them. For people raised here, it is a recognisable picture of a town built around a single purpose.
Wide avenues and regular superblocks define the housing districts. The pattern reflects mid-century Soviet planning rather than centuries of organic growth.
Large industrial grounds lie outside the residential city. Their round storage tanks and straight internal roads make a strong graphic contrast with the housing blocks.
Woodland and open ground surround the town and separate it from Samara and the river lowlands. On the poster this gives the composition clear, quiet edges.

Koteā ko Novokuybyshevsk
Many people's families moved here for work, and a map of the town recalls that history better than any photograph. The clean planned layout also works well in modern interiors.
You can add your own title, subtitle and coordinates, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the town's engineering character especially well. The files cost $9, with no watermark on the paid versions.
