Te mapa
Obudu is a town in the north of Cross River State in south-eastern Nigeria. It sits in lowland country close to the escarpment of the Obudu Plateau, a highland near the Cameroon border. The town is best known as the gateway to the Obudu Mountain Resort, formerly the Obudu Cattle Ranch, which lies up on the plateau and is reached by a road with many hairpin bends.
The town's layout is simple. A central area of market streets and junctions sits where the main roads meet, and residential areas spread out along them in looser blocks. Farmland and wooded ground surround the built-up area. Toward the plateau the roads become fewer and more winding as they start the climb, and that change sets the direction of the whole map.
An Obudu map poster frames the town as a starting point. The dense lines in the centre give way to sparse routes heading toward the highland. There is a clear sense of lowland meeting upland, even in flat black and white. For people who grew up here or have travelled up to the plateau, that edge is part of what defines the place.
The main roads meet in a compact core of trading streets. It forms the densest cluster on the map and the point from which the town spreads outward.
Routes toward the Obudu Plateau start to bend and thin out as the ground rises. They lead the eye away from the town toward the highland resort.
Loosely spaced settlements and farm tracks surround the town. They soften the edges of the map and set it in its rural district.
