Branching roads
Instead of a grid, the map shows roads that fork and curve across the landscape. They connect the villages in an organic network that fills the poster with fine lines.

Te mapa
Amaigbo lies in the densely settled heart of Igboland in southeastern Nigeria. Like many towns in the region, it does not form a single compact block when seen from above. Its roads branch across gently rolling land instead, linking family compounds, markets, churches and schools that sit among farms, palms and patches of trees.
Like many Igbo towns, it is a community made up of several villages, and the map shows this as clusters of buildings joined by winding local roads. Over time, the busier roads have drawn more shops and houses along their edges, and these have become the main lines of the town.
The land between the settlements matters as much as the settlements themselves, and it gives the design plenty of open space. An Amaigbo map poster reflects this spread-out character. It shows a network of roads and paths rather than a grid, with the densest points marking where people gather, trade and worship.
Instead of a grid, the map shows roads that fork and curve across the landscape. They connect the villages in an organic network that fills the poster with fine lines.
Groups of buildings gather along the roads and around junctions, forming soft concentrations of detail that mark the town's different communities.
Farmland and trees separate the clusters and leave open areas. These give the design room to breathe and show how the town sits within its landscape.

Koteā ko Amaigbo
For people from Amaigbo living in Lagos, Abuja or overseas, a map of the hometown carries real weight. It is a way to show children where the family comes from and to keep the roads of home in view.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with your village or family name, and keep the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, then download the HD files for $9 or have a matte poster printed and shipped to you.
