Te mapa
Ocean Springs sits on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, across Biloxi Bay from the city of Biloxi. In 1699 French colonists under Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville established Fort Maurepas near here, one of the earliest European settlements on the Gulf Coast. Today the town is known for its walkable downtown, its oak-lined streets and its arts community.
On a map, the bay sets the western edge of town, and a bridge carries U.S. Highway 90 across the water to Biloxi. Downtown streets form a modest grid a short walk from the shore. Beyond it, residential streets wind among bayous and inlets, and the coastline to the south faces the Mississippi Sound.
An Ocean Springs map poster is defined by water: the broad bay, the jagged edges of the bayous and the open Sound. Against them, the town's street grid looks small and precise, framed by shorelines on almost every side.
The bay forms the town's western edge. On the map, the long highway bridge to Biloxi draws a single straight line across the open water.
The historic centre is a compact grid of streets lined with shops, galleries and restaurants, known for the large live oaks that shade it.
Inlets and bayous cut into the land around the residential areas. They give the coastline an irregular, finely detailed outline that suits a monochrome print.
