Te mapa
Odienné is the main town of the Denguélé district in the far north-west of Ivory Coast, close to the borders with Guinea and Mali. The land here is open savanna, with granite hills rising around the town. From above, Odienné shows a broad, fairly regular street pattern. Wide blocks and main roads spread out from the centre toward the countryside.
The town was historically the seat of the Kabadougou kingdom and has long served as a market centre for the surrounding region, where Malinké culture and trade shaped daily life. Mosques and markets mark the older quarters, and the newer parts of town extend more loosely along the roads.
An Odienné map poster reduces the town to its clear essentials. The grid provides order, the approach roads frame it, and the open land between neighbourhoods gives the design space. It is a quiet, well-proportioned image of a regional capital that rarely appears in print, and it makes a meaningful keepsake for anyone from the north-west.
The town's blocks are wide and fairly regular, forming an easy, orderly pattern that holds the centre of the composition.
Roads leading toward the Guinean and Malian borders and to other Ivorian towns leave the centre as long, straight lines across the savanna.
Granite hills rise near the town. On the map, the built area sits within a wider, open landscape rather than filling it.
