Te mapa
Ölgii is the capital of Bayan-Ölgii, the westernmost province of Mongolia, and sits high in the Altai region. The town lies beside the Khovd River. On a map, its roughly regular grid of streets fills a stretch of valley floor, with the river's braided channels running along one side and bare, open land rising beyond the last blocks.
The province is home to most of Mongolia's Kazakh community, and Kazakh is widely spoken in the town. The region is also known for its eagle hunters and the autumn golden eagle festival that draws visitors from abroad. Those traditions belong to the wider landscape, and the town serves as its administrative and trading centre.
A Ölgii map poster captures a place where the settled grid meets the steppe without transition. The streets end abruptly and the river keeps moving past. In black and white, the braided channels become a fine, flowing texture next to the rectangular blocks, which makes for an image that is both orderly and wild.
The river passes the town in several braided channels. Its channels form a loose, flowing pattern that contrasts with the straight streets.
Ölgii's streets form a fairly regular grid laid across flat ground. It is a clear, legible plan typical of Mongolian provincial centres.
The town stops sharply at open land. That gives the poster a strong outline and plenty of empty space around the settlement.

Koteā ko Ölgii
Travellers heading into the Altai often pass through Ölgii, and many remember it as the last town before the mountains. People with Kazakh family roots in the province also choose the map as a link to home.
You can personalise the poster with a title, a subtitle and the coordinates. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters on matte paper, with or without a wooden frame, ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
